    This will be QPR’s fifth consecutive season in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League in 2014/15.

    Since their return to the second-tier, QPR have struggled to compete with the stronger sides in the division.

    The last three seasons have seen the club finish 18th, 16th and 19th, and everyone involved with the club will be hoping that they can break into the top half of the table this term.

    Last season

    QPR lost six of their first ten league games last season and eventually finished the 2018/19 campaign in 19th place.

    Manager Steve McClaren was sacked in April following a dismal run of results which saw the team lose seven straight matches in January and February.

    Only the three relegated sides conceded more goals than QPR last season and this issue must be addressed in order for the club to progress this year.

    Next season

    Former Brentford, Rangers and Nottingham Forest manager, Mark Warburton, has been appointed as the club’s new boss.

    With 13 players signed and 12 players leaving the club in the summer transfer window, Warburton has plenty of work to do when it comes to finding his best eleven.

    Center-backs Yoann Barbet, Conor Masterson and Domonic Ball should help to solidify the defense while Marc Pugh will add some Premier League quality on the wing.

    QPR must improve away from home this season. The team conceded 40 goals on their travels last season which resulted in an unhealthy away goal difference of –20.

    A goal difference of +2 at Loftus Road is one positive that can be taken from last season but this must be built on if the club are to find an elusive top-half finish.
