    Having finished as runners-up in 2008 and semi-finalists in both 2012 and 2016, Germany will be hoping to go one better this year and clinch their first European Championship title since 1996.

    Following a hugely successful 15-year spell in charge of Germany, Joachim Low will step down from his role after Euro 2020. The 2014 World Cup winner is set to be replaced by former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick.

    Goalkeepers: Bernd Leno (Arsenal), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt).

    • Who Will Germany Face in Group F?

    Germany is in the so-called “group of death” alongside Hungary, Portugal and France. Their first match is against the current world champions in Munich of June 15.

    Four days later, Germany face reigning European champs Portugal on June 19. Low’s side will then complete their group-stage campaign against Group F outsiders Hungary on June 23.

    • Germany’s Star Player

    Joshua Kimmich: Fresh from clinching yet another Bundesliga title with Bayern, Kimmich looks set to play a key role for Germany this summer. The versatile defensive midfielder bagged six goals and 14 assists last season.

    At just 26, Kimmich already has 52 international caps under his belt. He will be expected to anchor the midfield and allow the likes of Serge Gnabry, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner to do their thing in attack.

    • How Far Can Germany Go?

    Getting out of Group F will be a challenge in itself, with Portugal and France also battling for a spot in the knockout phase. But if Low’s men can escape the group of death, there is no reason why they can’t go deep into the competition.

    Winning the trophy could be difficult, especially with a number of up-and-coming players in the squad. Still, Germany could easily make it to the semi-finals.
